2018 into 2019
Christmas to Spring

The City of Oxford Orchestra was founded in 1965 with a firm commitment to provide live, classical music of the highest quality to the widest possible audience.  The Orchestra has played to acclaim in most of the capital cities of Europe whilst also providing all-year-round concerts in Oxford's beautiful, historical buildings, in particular, Sir Christopher Wren's stunning Sheldonian Theatre.

Welcome to our 2018 into 2019 season which features our ever-popular trio of Christmas and New Year celebrations, and also two surprises for 2019. Our Traditional Christmas Carol Concert and Christmas Concerto by Candlelight  have been described by our audience as highlights of their musical year!

The  Carol Concert brings you a wonderful selection of seasonal favourites and gives you the chance to join in and sing in the marvellous Sheldonian Theatre. The Christmas Concerto by Candlelight is a truly magical musical experience in the superb acoustics of Exeter College Chapel. Our opening concert for 2019 celebrates ten years since our remarkable Artistic Director, Stephen Bell, joined us. He will present  his usual sparkling Viennese New Year selection which this year features the renowned tenor Joshua Ellicott
A special treat for Valentine's Day is a
Salute to Love recital from our Artist in Residence, Tom Poster and brilliant violinist Elena Urioste, and March sees the joyful return of Springtime Baroque in a fundraising Dogs for Good concert.
